Our friends the Hensons were visiting this weekend from Kansas, and we decided on a family soccer match as one afternoon activity.
Here are the team photos:
The Henson Jayhawks
vs. The Regruth Hoosiers

Pregame, winning odds favored the Regruths as Casey predicted a 6-2 victory. Only time and lots of running and falling would tell.
The competition was fierce as the competitive spirit drove the players on. A few rules were made up as the game progresssed. Fair rules, you know, to accomodate the space and players, like "no boundaries" "no defense on the 4 year old" and "if you can't do better footwork than someone, just take them down" rules. Regular old fair rules.
As the field size was a bit smaller than regulation size, there was lots of scoring. With only 4 players on each team, everyone had to pull their part.
With Michelle's background in collegiate field hockey(did you know this about her?!), she turned out to be quite the player-she was intimidated by no one and had some fancy footwork to go along with her determination. She would make a great sweeper, center, or goalie! Here she is with a groovy between the legs play.

Miraculously, the score turned out to be tied at the end and everyone shook hands on a game well played. I think everyone was just happy there were only minor injuries and it was drink time.

Casey did alot of official scorekeeping and kicking off, so he isn't pictured in most of these photos. He did decide the final score was 66-61-Jayhawks, but I think his math must be off by a bit. ;)

Tie game and a great time was had by all. We can't wait for next year's playoffs!!!
Thanks for visiting!
Cheers!

The Hensons had a great time at the ballgame despite the attempted take-downs by one Regruth in particular. We will be back next year to take the team on again.
Wonder which Regruth that would be! Sounds like fun.
Uhm, Jenn...did you play at all or just take pix? ;-) Just kidding - I'm sure you put in your 'fair share'! Sounds like a lot of fun! Great write-up and pix. It was fun to see.
