Seasonal retirement

I have been very blessed with my photography in the last few years and really enjoy what it has become. I love taking pictures-not for the money, but for spending time with folks and getting great shots.
It has become increasingly hard to find time to do it with an active family and a teaching career as well. Two nights ago it became very clear to me that I wasn't scheduling any more pictures until at least January. My son asked me why I was busy alot. He said, "Do alot of people need you?" In that moment, I knew I wasn't scheduling another session for this fall.
I really had a wonderful time last year, but spent most of the evenings taking shots, placing orders, designing Christmas cards and sorting orders. So, this fall I have vowed to cut back. Thanks to everyone I had the pleasure of working with last year. There are lots of fantastic photographers in town. If you need a recommendation, just contact me.
I have some folks already on the calendar, and some family and close friends who know I have a spot saved, but my goal is to really enjoy my family, the fall, and friends this year.
Thanks very much and I hope you enjoy this season as much as I hope we will!
Cheers,
JLR

Funny how kids can put things into perspective. I know there are a ton of disappointed clients in so. IN. I'm sure you can get some great shots over the fall of your kids playing soccer and that great husband of yours coaching. I will miss seeing your blog updated regularly.

It's nice that you have the opportunity to do this! Take advantage of it and make sure that photography continues to be a hobby/pleasure and not a job wearing you down. You deserve the best in life and the time to enjoy it, so congrats on keeping your priorities straight! Can't wait to talk/see you again, hopefully sometime soon!
